RepairBench can automatically ask a customer for a Google review the moment their repair is marked Collected — by email, SMS, or both. More reviews mean better local search ranking and more walk-in trade, and asking automatically means it actually happens every time.
Before you start
You need your shop’s Google review link. In your Google Business Profile, choose Ask for reviews (or Get more reviews) and copy the short link it gives you — it looks like https://g.page/r/…/review. This is the link customers tap to leave a star rating.
Turning it on
Open Settings → Google Reviews and: (1) paste your Google review link; (2) switch on Automatically request a review when a device is marked Collected; (3) choose how to send it — email, SMS, or both. SMS needs the SMS gateway set up. That is enough to start — from now on, when you mark a job Collected, the customer is asked for a review once.
Choosing when it sends
By default the request goes out immediately on collection. If you would rather wait — so the customer has time to enjoy the repair first — set a delay (in hours) on the same screen. A delayed request is sent automatically once the time has passed; you do not need to do anything.
Editing the message
The email and SMS wording are fully editable under Settings → Google Reviews. You can use placeholders that are filled in automatically, including {{first_name}}, {{business_name}} and {{review_link}} (the link to your Google review page). Keep it short and friendly — a quick, warm ask converts best.
Checking it was sent
Open any collected job and look at the Timeline. You will see Review request — Sent with the date once it has gone out, or Scheduled with the time if it is waiting on a delay. Each job is only ever asked once.
Tips
- Make sure the customer record has a valid email (and mobile, if you send by SMS).
- The automatic timing right after a successful collection is ideal — the customer is happiest then.
- Reply to the reviews you receive — it encourages more and looks great to future customers.
